We want to Thank all of the participating artists again for your submissions to Lake Affect Magazine!

We received an unprecedented number of submissions and want to ensure that your artwork can be showcased in our community of artists and we are grateful to receive & review such a wide array of inspiring work created throughout the Western NY, Central NY, and Finger Lakes regions.

Lake Affect Magazine wanted to create a special space for the artists that we cannot publish in our upcoming issue, so we created an online gallery to showcase their work to our entire readership and viewership. This is an opportunity for exposure that we hope will also facilitate collaboration and community among artists.

Hayley Dayis

About Me …

Rochester, NY native Hayley Dayis was raised with an appreciation for philosophy, the arts, and the natural cycles of land. The pigments that she uses in the creation of her current work infuse each piece with the subtle majesty of Earth’s color spectrum while paying homage to the reciprocity and dependency between humans and land. Upon attending a 2017 environmental event in Mexico, Hayley became disillusioned with washing chemical acrylic paints from her brushes down the drain and began to search for alternatives. This search led her to Alexander Fals, who introduced Hayley to his family’s technique of painting with foraged pigments from Colombia where she now lives and paints for half of each year, returning to New York when the weather turns warm.
